Capitalization — Names of Directions

Capitalize the names of directions when they refer to sections of the country.

EX.— The South has some of the best beaches.
EX.— The West won the war.


NOTE— Do not capitalize when they don't refer.
EX.— The baseball field is north of Queens Blvd.
EX.— The eastern part of Georgia has the largest population of birds.
